Fairways

Hi and welcome to Fairways from registered manager Anne Hall, who has been at the home since 1998 and has worked in the care sector for 18 years.

Anne says: "Fairways has a really homely atmosphere - all our service users have lived here for a number of years and thrive in the warm, supportive environment. The pleasure on each person's face when I arrive at work in the mornings makes my job worthwhile, knowing that as a team we help them live their lives to the full. This is their home and not just a place where they live."

Opened by Franklin Homes in 1998, Fairways is just five minutes from the quaint Bridlington seafront and only 15 minutes from the town centre

Accommodating twelve people with challenging behaviours and learning disabilities, the home has a high staff ratio providing support and nurturing to the residents. Fairways has some of East Riding's most challenging people, all of whom are now settled and living harmoniously with others.

Fairways’ family atmosphere complements clients’ robust daily routine while developing each of the residents to achieve their individual goals. Service users at Fairways benefit from regular support from Franklin Homes' consultant psychologist Dr. Shri and the home enjoys close working relationships with PCTs' psychology departments. The devotion of the staff is demonstrated by their commitment to continued learning and development: two-thirds have achieved NVQ Level 2 qualifications.

Fairways has a kitchen and two lounges along with a fully-stocked activities room that is in regular use by residents for drawing, painting, model work, music and learning how to use computers. A lift at the home ensures it is suitable for older residents and those with physical handicaps.

Varied activities on offer at the home include art, dance and computer studies in the "art" room, gardening in the large enclosed back area, an annual subsidised holiday. Service users are actively encouraged to be part of the community - enjoying aqua fit, going to the gym, horse riding and local walks, as well as many organised trips in the home's own mini bus.
